Working groups are designed to develop international cooperation of academics and students from Slovak Universities with the foreign initiatives and organizations dealing with the global issues connected with the academic freedom and freedom of speech. The cooperation is developed in the area of analysis & monitoring of academic freedom and freedom of speech of science and educational institutions all over the world. Our aim is to encourage Slovak academics & students to the active support of these initiatives through these working groups & to share knowledge with the academics & students abroad. With this activity they will create more space for intercultural communication as the basis for the global citizens.

Official launch of SAR Slovakia Section
Leaders from universities across Slovakia convened on May 23, 2019 at Art Books coffee in Bratislava launch of the Slovakia section of Scholars at Risk (SAR). Bratislava Policy Institute, will act as the secretariat of the section during a three-year pilot phase.
The establishment of the SAR Slovakia section comes at a time of growing concern around academic freedom in Eastern Europe. SAR sections are groups of higher education institutions and associations that are nationally organized to coordinate national and local-level activities in support of academic freedom and higher education values. The SAR Slovakia Section is being established to expand knowledge about academic freedom in the world and foster a community that nurtures the free exchange of ideas and opinions.

Bratislava Policy Institute officially invited all the relevant authorities, representatives from Universities, Embassies & research centers for first official presentation of international initiative Scholars at Risk, which deals with the promotion, support & protection of academic freedom. With the support of Slovak Aid and Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation , BPI initiated the establishment of Scholars at Risk Slovakia. official presentation took place in OPEN Gallery in Baštova 5 in Bratislava at 13:00 pm. One of the aim of the official presentation was to involve more individuals, Universities & organisations into taking an active part in this network y support this initiative. To encourage more individuals we invited the speaker Lauren Crain director for research & education SAR & Nil Mutler, which is holder of the status Scholar at Risk.
