Why do activists join politics?

The 2020 parliamentary elections brought a new phenomenon to Slovakia. Ballots of opposition and new political parties were filled with people who had long wanted nothing to do with politics. Activists, who for many years have drawn attention to urgent problems in society, have today decided that they want to help their country differently and have been directly involved in the election contest. We invite you to find out with us what inspired activists from different fields, from the environment, through culture to the fight against extremism, to come out on the market and enter politics.

Speakers

  • Ján Benčík, Za ľudí, blogger and laurate of Biela vrana, figter against the extreme right-wing and extremism
  • Tomáš Halász, Progressive Slovakia, environmental activist, photographer, and fighter for the equality of chances, Progressive Slovakia Party
  • Pavol Weiss, author, playwright, We are Family Party
  • Viera Žúborová, political scientist, Bratislava Policy Institute
