The theme of the conference is “A Divided Society – A Divided Europe. In what and why is it not possible to find common ground ”
In the current pandemic situation, as in times of migration crisis or climate change, Europe is emerging as a “divided continent”, with fundamental differences between the “East” and “The West.” In Central and Eastern Europe, there has been a lack of or weak confidence in liberal principles and democratic structures, as well as the long-term consequences of the communist era. On closer examination, however, we find that these and other similar topics divide not only the entire continent, but especially individual societies – both in the East and in the West.
